Apple has no official support for downloads of VR App Store has reached 106 million

At present, Apple has not yet developed any VR application functions on the iPhone. This is different from Google, which has already integrated the Daydream VR headset with the Pixel mobile phone. However, according to the latest analysis of the mobile application market research company Sensor Tower, iPhone users are downloading a large number of VR app applications to turn the mobile phone into a VR headset.

Some iPhone applications support the Cardboard class Mobile VR. This low-cost VR hardware can use the phone as a VR head-up screen and processor, running a simple VR program.

Since January 2015, the number of downloads of Cardboard VR applications on the Apple App Store has reached 106 million. Most of these applications were downloaded in December 2016. This is mainly due to the increase in new mobile phones during the holiday season. More people want to experience VR.

The following is the number of downloads of VR app in Apple App Store and Google Play for each month (2015.1--2017.1) released by Sensor Tower:

Most of the VR applications downloaded by users are gaming experiences, accounting for about 57% of the VR application downloads on the iPhone and iPad. In 2016, the total number of downloads of VR game applications on the iPhone and iPad was approximately 36.9 million.

The top three applications include Ninja Kid Run VR, VR Roller Coaster, and Tap Tap Fish - Abyss Rium.

Given that before any official support, Apple users had a great interest in mobile VR. Imagine how many people would try to use Apple's VR products if Apple released a VR headset.
